About Eric Thompson

PARENT

Eric Thompson and his family have lived in the Osborn district since 2014. He and his wife have two children, a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old, who is a kindergartner in Encanto Elementary School’s dual-language program.

SCHOOL CFO & CPA

Eric is the chief financial officer for Tempe Elementary School District and previously audited school districts throughout the state of Arizona. He is a current member of the Arizona Association of School Business Officials, the Government Finance Officers Association and the Arizona Society of CPAs. His experience and leadership in school finance and budgets would bring an important perspective to the school board.

Eric is a CPA and holds a master’s degree in accounting from Iowa State University in addition to his bachelor’s of journalism from the University of Missouri. In addition to his professional roles in school finance, Eric has worked as a broadcast journalist and is an experienced communicator.

COMMUNITY ADVOCATE

He currently serves as a board member on the Osborn School District Educational Foundation, which supports the Osborn district.

Eric is also fighting to get more money for the Osborn district. He is the treasurer of Yes for Osborn Schools, which is working to pass a continuation of an existing budget override in November. It will not increase property taxes but will assure funding that gives Osborn an extra 15% to spend on critical programs, such as full-day kindergarten, art, music and PE.

Additionally, Eric has served as treasurer of the Carnation Association of Neighbors.
